“Interpretation of Youth in Pakistan “
Nahi tera Nasheman Qasar-e- Sultani ka gumbad par
tu Shaheen ha baser kar paharon ki chatano par
(You don’t have to make your nest on the dome of Queen’s palace,
Oh Eagle, choose to reside on the peaks of mountains)
According to Allama Iqbal’s above stated verses youth is one who can reach to sky, can fly so high like an eagle. Basically youth generation of any nation is considered as back bone of nation, it is suppose to be its future, youth community play very vital role at every stage of nation and country. Youth is considered as weapon which either can bring charms of achievement to any nation or curse.
Imagine the youth community of sub-continent which together , under one platform, struggled hard for transforming momentum in masses for freedom and separate state . If we go back in deep history, if we try to look upon on event of conquered of Sindh in 712. We would mesmerized by the gallantry of Muhammad Bin Qasim that how amazingly he had conquered Sindh only at the age of 19 but he had defeated bravely his enemies. We have great examples of Tipu Sultan, Mehmood Gaznavi and many more who set example in young age.
Well, if we are not in a mood to bother ourselves to put glance on history of it our history is not that much strong then lets look at the past events just happened in Kashmir, youth activist Burhan Wani, how just because of that young soul, situation of Kashmir has changed how rapidly people are getting eager for freedom and independence Burhan Wani was the young activist, who due to his devoted services people get awarded about their right and independence. Well this short span is all about few prominent youth leaders and activists of world who did their best to create change in their world, who gave their fullest to do their part in this world.
Now, lets we drop our concentration on what kind of interpretation of youth is prevailing in our dearest homeland “Pakistan”.
Interpretation of youth in Pakistan will surely bring you a sarcastic smile if it failed to make your face chuckle, Pakistan’s population is consist of more than 63% of youth. Youth is considered as our country future. Youth is solely responsible for our progressive future. So, if youth community has this much importance then have you ever imagined what would our youth should look like…? Normally, our society has divided into three major classes, i-e : Elite Class, Middle Class, Lower Middle Class. If we look at the ratio of youth of elite class then it is approximately 5.7%, like wise in middle class youth has 40.12% ratio where as our major part of youth community is found in lower middle class which is nearly 17.12% so, now lets examine one by one the priorities and interpretation of youth according to their respective classes, youth belong to elite class seems very fortunate in terms of having all opportunities as compare to their deprived youth community of other two classes but despite of having all opportunities, do they behave in same manner as they suppose to do…? Do they fulfill all their responsibilities. Do they train themselves as developed future of Pakistan…? Definitely answer is NO. Majority of them have indulged themselves in weird and time wasting sort of activities, their priorities have changed a lot and what matters to them most. Then here come the youth of middle class challenges then have to face are different from elite, they seems most thrust one who wants to enjoy their youth along with having serious concern about their future as uncertainty about their future has also been serious concern of them. Then in last youth of lower middle class come to whom has to face quite different kind of challenges, they don’t even know root causes of our problems of country, they don’t have any interest in who is ruling us and how they are doing so…. Their only area of interest is how they could earn their bread, how they could become eligible for making their both ends meet.
Where as ; our youth prioritize should have to be different, they need to be more and more rational and intellectual in approach and interpretation of themselves. They need to be more concerned and attentive o address our challenges and in elimination of crises and short comes of society.
In connection of this matter one of the youth activist of Pakistan who is currently residing in Australia, representing Pakistan there speaks :
“We have enough potential but it is more about our youth knows about? if they become aware of it only they will be able to utilize their energies in right directions
I think much of the talent has been wasted due to bad teachers and ill education system and yet we are just locked in dark room. The only way to get out of this all thing is to know the power, gift and energy we have in our youth.” – Bilal Sheikh – Youth Activist.
One of the other Youth Activist from Hyderabad utter these words while sharing his views on this topic :
“I want to see my youth following our religion Islam, Not in a extremists way, But in a way that they become a good human being” – Muzzamil Memon – Youth Activist – A Emerging talent.
While speaking to an youth activist from Quetta, that how he interprets our youth of country and where he is seeing them in future, he shared :
“The Pakistani Youth has stepped on a train named as destiny that takes its passengers on the path towards development. Since the establishment of Pakistan, youth had always been crushed and oppressed by teachers, leaders and parents. Moreover the role of youth in politics has always been limited due to corrupt and inept political system. They failed to get exposed to the world that could lead to a new era of modernization. As the clock ticked and time flew, things started to change their discourse. The new century brought about much advancement along with the change in the trend of Pakistan” Haris Agha -
So, according to above mentioned circumstances let hope for better and productive plus progressive interpretation of youth. Lets hope and work together in transforming good image of youth. Lets do it..!
